I will admit it did take me some time to read “Alpha Rising.”  I would pick the book up, read a few pages and then put it back down.  I just really couldn’t get started.  After several days of this I decided to wait and start over at a later time.  Any avid reader will agree that sometimes you just have to read a book when the time is right.  Well the time was right.  Our daughters had all gone out for the evening, no small feat in itself, so I poured me a glass of wine, curled up in a chair by the window, and began reading “Alpha Rising” again.  Yes indeed, the time was right.

The common theme of good and evil prevails in this science-fiction, adventure, fantasy, and suspense-filled book.  Backman Turner and Faith Christopher leave earth to procure a faulty spaceship and its crew.  You have the evil Rooks who are leaders of other kingdoms fighting our good guys.  There are some good interventions going on and tons of action.

You may have read similar tales but this one has originality that is definitely worth reading.  You must, must, read this book with a clear mind and please don’t turn back to recapture the details.  Sometimes you don’t have to “get it” to enjoy the book.  I felt “Alpha Rising” by G. L. Douglas was a great reading of some good fiction and I was not at all disappointed.  The story was never-ending so I still think about what could have happened.
