Wade Lackey was born in 1947. At thirteen he wanted to emulate his older, tougher brothers.  He saw his friend murdered over stolen fish.   His father had a drinking problem.  His parent argued and fought physically on a regular basis.  They became violent with Wade when they became angry with him.

Wade became a thief, taking what he wanted.  He used drugs and alcohol.  Wade made one bad decision after another. “By the time I was thirteen, I had a terrible reputation and loved it. The more trouble I got into, the more people would talk about me.  In my perverted, prideful mind, that was good. I was finally getting some recognition.”

“At the age of twenty-nine I found myself lost and totally empty.  I had almost destroyed my health, my mind, my family.  I would have ended up in the pits of Hell if I would have died.”  Several people influenced Wade’s repentance.  His sister Erma had accepted Christ.  He’d been exposed to Jesus when he was a young child.  Many people were praying for him.  “I’ve tried everything else, I thought.  Why not try this?”  He made his way to the altar of the church and told the pastor that he was ready to give his whole life to Jesus.  “That was the day when I began to realize that GOD WAS THERE ALL THE TIME.”

Wade was a changed man.  Many said he even looked different.  God gave him the strength to give up alcohol, drugs and his other bad habits.  Some of his friend criticized him.  But Wade knew he was a changed man and that the Lord was with him.  In 1980 Wade was ordained.  Wade has dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and now lives for Him.

WOW!  I got goose bumps just reading this book.  Wade Lackey’s story is incredible and those who read it will never be the same.  The photographs of Wade and his family add to this story.  They helped me to relate to the people.  This book is well written and the plot flows smoothly.  I’m glad I read this book.  Don Dilmore the author and the main character Wade impress me.  I highly recommend this book to everyone, young and old need to read this story in “God Was There All the Time.”
