A book has been passed down throughout generations from one female to the next. The book is now Jacq’s. The book comes with the warning to not read any of the passages out loud. Of course Jacq ignores that warning and suffers the consequences. Unbeknownst to Jacq she is an answer to a prayer of the past. Suddenly surrounded by a strange mist she is transported in time and finds herself in the midst of a battle, where she meets Rufus, the knight that will risk his life for her, the one that comes to respect her and love her. Rufus sees a beautiful woman kneeling in the middle of a battle with a knight riding toward her; he rushes to rescue her and claims her as his own.
Jacq gains the respect for the soldiers and helps formulate a plan to stop Braxton’s men. She teaches the art of making oneself invisible. With blackened faces and bits of branches and leaves they soldiers seemed to fade into the brush. The next battle is to take the delivery wagon. Jacq dresses as a male and fights along side the others with out being detected.
There is immediate sexual tension between Rufus and Jacq. The love scenes are so heated they threaten to scorch the pages. Rufus and Jacq have a deep love for each other and yet neither is willing to be dominated. While it was a crude time, the love they share is sweet and endearing. The characters are well developed and likable. Rufus is strong with great intelligence, but wise enough to know to listen and kind and gentle. Jacq is strong willed and a tall woman with extreme intelligence. Donald, a secondary character, was very interesting; perhaps we will see him star in his own book someday. This book is well written and a pleasure to read. The authors use humor as well as love and adventure to keep the reader turning pages to see what will happen next. This book is a must read! I truly enjoyed the storyline. I highly recommend “Jacq’s Warlord” to those who enjoy historical erotic romance and time travel.
