Apparently life is very different in Louisville, Kentucky.  Lil, also known as Diddle, is a forty-year-old handywoman who has had fantasies about finding a female mate at Home Depot. Having been completely wiped out by an ex, named Eve, she is currently pursuing a red-headed, ice cream vendor who wears gingham panties.

Elsa, the cow who lives next door, has a penchant for both antiques and space travel.  She also lusts for Neal Armstrong.   She and Lil have been friends and neighbors for ten years.  In spite of Elsa being a cow, she and Lil have great times together, as long as Lil doesn’t serve hamburger that is.

Strangely and hysterically reminiscent of a famous nursery rhyme, I have to say that this one is definitely for adults.  Included in this story are also a violin playing cat, and kitchen implements that talk, including a morose silver spoon who has unrequited feelings for Lil.

I totally got a kick out of listening to this audio book.  The cover warns that it is not for children or prudes, and I have to say that I totally agree.  However, if you are someone who enjoys a good laugh and not homophobic, you will definitely appreciate the creative, quirky mind of the author Marie Davis in “Hey Diddle Diddle.”
