Swift of Heart “Swift of Heart” is a short story published on-line by Cerridwen Press. I found the story to be well-written and the author Janet Davies does a good job in integrating fantasy into a love story. The story begins when Stephanie Hart opens the door and her long lost love, Mac Swift, is standing there. She is so angry to see him after he disappeared a year earlier without a word to her. She gets even angrier when he tells her an outlandish tale about being from another universe where he was called back to do fight for his country. Mac Swift is from a place called Melotia, and he knows that the battles he went through over the past year will be nothing in comparison to trying to win Stephanie back. He is determined that he and Stephanie will be together forever. In his hurry to get back to Stephanie, he does not notice that his enemy, Anthony of Carronas, has followed him to get revenge for Mac killing his brother. He plans to do it by hurting the person that matters the most to Mac. As Mac and Stephanie go on the run, he realizes that the only way to win against Anthony and keep Stephanie safe is for them to go to Melotia. Stephanie begins to feel safe with Mac, then the beautiful, but plastic-looking, Cartia shows up claiming to be his fiancé. Stephanie now finds herself trying to figure out if Mac is really telling the truth about wanting to be with her and trying to stay alive. Stephanie and her sister Amy certainly turn out to be two feisty redheads who can take care of themselves. I found myself cheering them on as they face adversity throughout the story. I found “Swift of Heart” to be a well-written, action-packed short story. I would definitely recommend it to people who enjoy a good love story. |
