Knights of Telluria
“The Knights of Telluria” is the story of a girl named Kele and her quest to become a church knight, vanquish Draug’s Army and ride off into the sunset with her unicorn Spirit. There are exiled fugitive knights and knights in training, a hidden refuge, a valley of unicorns and The Army of Draug. The story is set on the continent of Telluria, a pre-industrialized civilization with a monotheistic religion. Draug has come over from the neighboring continent of Caledonia to conquer Telluria and quell the monotheistic religion practiced by Tellurians. The story was told from a first person point of view and allowed little in the way of character development. There were also parts of the story where the main character is in a fog of some sort. I am not clear if it was a coma or some other limitation of consciousness but I found it to be distracting. The work was rather linear, a sequence of events instead being a full story. There were phrases such as “indoor plumbing” and “he is cute” which made it hard to believe that this was a reality removed from our space and time. I could not get the feeling for this society and it was not a believable world. The illustrations were a primitive and awkward, more of a hindrance than an asset. “The Knights of Telluria” is a good idea but not yet a fully realized story. |
