Tavish McBain returned to Scotland to receive his inheritance.  If he had been born minutes earlier he would have already been the Laird and his brother would have been sent to live with the English.  He had done his duty and fought for the king at Culloden.  He was there when his brother was killed.  Tavish had been wounded himself in that terrible battle.

Tavish had heard about his brother’s widow.  It was told that his brother had taken her innocence and had married her despite her lowness of birth.  He was determined to be fair by her but put her in her place.  He was Laird now and would brook no interference.  The young woman that met him when he arrived was everything he didn’t expect.  She was beautiful and sensual.  He couldn’t help himself; he took her into his arms, embracing her passionately.

Lady Kristiana thought she saw a ghost when Tavish came riding up to the castle.  He looked so much like his brother Tomas.  From the moment she saw Tavish something came over her and she threw herself into his arms.  She had never felt like this before.  Despite that fact that she was a widow, she was still a virgin.

Jodi Lynn Copeland’s “A Gift of Myrrh” is well written.  The plot is very interesting.  I enjoyed the sparring between Tavish and Kristiana.  She was the perfect heroine.  He was unique; his character was not the typical hero.  I’m not sure I can pinpoint what was different.  I believe that Ms. Copeland captured his vulnerability.  I thought perhaps a little more background on his life with the English might have strengthened him.

While there were hints of his past that aspect wasn’t fully developed.  The passion of this book is strong.  The love between the Tavish (I love that name) and Kristiana is obvious early on.  The intimate scenes were very well done.  I recommend this book to readers that enjoy Scottish erotic love stories.
