When novelist David Snyder’s body is found bludgeoned to death, his book sales suddenly take off and his last book is slated to be made into a movie. The only problem is, is that Snyder was a horrible writer. His family and business associates do not care, they want to profit from the fact that he is worth more dead to them than alive. Found near his body is the completed manuscript, “Literary Promiscuity,” which he spent most of his adult life working on. It is terribly written. However, it also becomes set to be published.

Introduced into this story are his two self-absorbed daughters, his wannabe musician/loser son Clay, his ex-wives, a dishonest agent, wannabe actress newswoman Alison, a gold-digging former stripper named Cellophane Rapp and her brother, Bug, a hit-man. Bug has survived four lightning strikes. The side effects have caused him to drool and have a speech impediment.

These entertaining characters have very few redeeming qualities. Each of them sees the world as revolving around themselves. I laughed out loud at their antics as they try to cash in on Snyder’s death. Author Collins also throws a surprising twist into the story that adds to the entertainment.

If you enjoy books by Elmore Leonard or Carl Hiasen, you will love this one. I recommend this book to readers groups. It will provide for some lively discussions! “Literary Promiscuity” is totally entertaining. I would love to see it made into a movie.
