“A Regrettable Twist of Fate” is a romantic drama written in a screenplay format. The story begins when WNBA champs of the Boston Blue team challenge NBA champs of the Chicago Voyagers basketball team. Jay Byrd is a star player for the Voyagers. He has been dating a needy, dependent type of woman named Cindy. On his mother’s deathbed, she makes him promise never to break Cindy’s heart. She doesn’t feel that she would survive getting dumped by him. Jay agrees, even though his heart really isn’t with Cindy.

When Jay is introduced to Boston Blues star player, Jessie, he finds that she is more like the woman of his dreams. He tries to honor his agreement to his mother. Sparks are constantly flying between Jessie and Jay. There are actually several incidents that occur in the story that could be “regrettable twists of fate.” Most of these occurrences are caused by lack of openness, honesty and trust. Jay and Jessie have to work together to overcome some serious issues involving his girlfriend, other team players and her past. And they also have the championship game between the two teams to contend with. This makes for a challenging, yet lively story.

I enjoyed reading “A Regrettable Twist of Fate.” I liked the strength of the female characters. I also enjoyed the chemistry between Jessie and Jay. Their shared strengths will make them a force to be reckoned with in future stories. This is a fun book for sports fans.
