At age 62, Cleaton was diagnosed with breast cancer. “Lost Year of My Life” is an account of her feelings, experience, and recovery.

The first part of the book, as a preamble to her patient experience, Cleaton gives an account of her upbringing, her marriages, and her life. In journal and thought form, the middle part of the book explains her diagnosis, biopsies and tests, appointments with the surgeons, chemotherapy, radiation, and hospital stays. The latter part of the book contains poems and daily meditation subjects as well as contacts.

Although the author qualifies saying that everyone’s experience is different, Cleaton’s explanation of the procedures and her experience give the reader a good overview of what happens after the diagnosis of breast cancer. The book is written from the heart.
