I found “Shift Your Mind” to be a highly motivating and inspiring tool for personal growth.  The author, Steve Chandler, is also a public speaker and corporate trainer.  His engaging style of writing makes the reader feel like they are actually at one of his seminars while they are reading.  I like this aspect, because it made me feel instantly motivated, instead of overwhelmed.  He encourages you to shift your mind and take action now, “Because when you shift your mind, the whole world shifts with you.”

“Shift Your Mind” is comprised of 80 chapters that run about two pages each.  These chapters are interspersed with inspiring quotes from other well-known authors. Having read the book once through, I know that it would be valuable for me to go back and read one chapter a day, and journal my thoughts on how I can apply the information to my life.  So much of what I read really hit home with me, for both my personal and professional life.  While I felt that “Shift Your Mind” came to me at the perfect time, I suspect that other readers will also feel the same way. There is something covered for everyone in each of these chapters.  The suggestions are also very clearly explained, and are easy to incorporate into my world.

In my personal life, I have come to the realization that when I hold off on a goal, such as starting a diet on a Monday, or even waiting until the first of the month, I am not really serious about following through with the plan. I will let other obstacles in my life hold me back. I see this so much with myself and others in my life.  After absorbing the information that Chandler shares with us, I know that it will be more beneficial for me to shift my mind now, and immediately start taking the steps that I need to achieve to change my world.

In regards to my professional life, I found the information presented on using different words to help others follow through with what needs to be done, extremely helpful.  As a college instructor/counselor, I am going to change the title of my individual plans with my students from “contracts” to “agreements.”  It will be interesting to see what happens.

I highly recommend “Shift Your Mind,” not just for your self, but also as gifts for others.  I truly believe that it will help impact your life and the lives of those around you. I cannot wait to read the other books written by Chandler.
