The Devil You Know
Felix Castor freelances as an exorcist in London. Having made a horrible error with a demon and his best friend, Felix attempts to get out of this business. The story begins with him doing magic for a birthday party. The birthday boy is a brat, and the entertainment really begins when Felix cannot resist the urge to use real magic to teach him a lesson. As much as Felix would like to get out of the exorcism business, he finds himself trapped on a case with a mysterious ghost. Other events are occurring around this one, and Felix discovers that there is a meaningful connection. He has to get involved with some really seamy people to clear everything up. Of course this puts his life in danger with both human and supernatural creatures, including a sexy succubus. “The Devil You Know,” is a very well-written novel. The characters are well-developed and have a great deal of dimension to their personalities. The mystery involved in the plot is suspenseful and dramatic. The magical touches add a great deal to the story. Mr. Carey draws you into the plot and makes you feel as if you are really there watching what is happening instead of reading about it. If you are a fan of Jim Butcher, or Kim Harrison novels, you will love, “The Devil You Know.” I cannot wait for more books to be written for this series and plan on reading some of Mr. Carey’s earlier works. I highly recommend this book! |
