International Bestselling Author Todd Buchholz diverts slightly from a repertoire of non-fictional economic books to release “The Castro Gene.”  Although in a new genre, Buchholz brings his expertise in finance and politics to this novel and the result is absolutely thrilling. 

“The Castro Gene” is a modern day rags-to-riches tale but with invisible strings attached.  Luke Braden has hung up his boxing gloves much earlier than he imagined but a tragedy in the ring has left him no other choice.  Now, this athlete-turned-security-guard has gone from an empty basement apartment to a high class loft with a billionaire mentor that seems too good to be true.  The chain of events to follow slams Luke with a punch of government secrets, jabs of political maneuvering crossed with big business greed, an uppercut of bloody sports and international intrigue, and the hook of inescapable family genes. 

Buchholz does an impeccable job bringing his characters and their plight to life.  The individual tensions can be felt reverberating from the pages as the adrenaline-charged plot unfolds.  He successfully brings his story full circle with eerie circumstances too bazaar to be coincidental.  Every time I thought I had the story figured out, Buchholz blindsided me with a new twist…right up through the last page.  The book was almost impossible to put down and when I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it!

“The Castro Gene” is perfect for fiction aficionados, especially those into political, conspiracy, and big money thrillers.  Buchholz isn’t just breaking into the fiction world with this one, he’s shattered it.  He writes an intelligent novel, complete with an exhilarating (and plausible) storyline worthy of the silver screen.  His characters haunt you even after you’ve finished the last page.  Watch out, Dan Brown…
