As the Pendulum Swings: If It Isn't Hypnosis, Then What Is It?
Through his own experiences of wanting to change his life to be more positive and calming, the author takes us through what we can do to make positive changes. His fascination with hypnosis led him to learn to use this skill to help others and learn about himself along the way. Often what we perceive to be happiness is not. His ability to admit his shortcomings is refreshing. He writes with no pretense of knowing everything, but relates that learning about our selves is very important. Our past experiences, whether true or not, defines who we are today. Many of our memories are what others have told us, and we believe them to be true. Yet, we need to question everything and find the truth, if there is a real truth out there. His information on hypnosis dispels a lot of myths. In my college courses I teach in Psychology, hypnosis is a favorite topic. Not being a subject matter expert in this area, I found this book to be very helpful in learning what it is and how it works. I have been able to discuss this book in my classes. The fact that the author led us on his journey to a more peaceful life was very informative. Many expect “miracles” to happen in therapy and hypnosis. We reject what we don’t know or feel comfortable with. In “As the Pendulum Swings” by Lindsay A. Brady, he gives sound advice on how to live a more meaningful life with honesty and passion. |
