“Sweet Emotions” goes beyond romance.  Please don’t let the name deter you from reading.  I normally tend to shy away from the sappy-mushy genre but admit that “The Song Trilogy” has me hooked.  As with most series, I didn’t begin at the beginning, but that’s okay.  You don’t have to.  We pick up the story with pregnant Jenna and Scott in the shower, all hot-and-heavy and sexed up.  All hot and steamy – from there you are hooked.

From fancy Madison Square Garden to the Ritz Carlton to looking at their growing baby on the monitor their all-consuming, rock-star lifestyle is one crazy roller-coaster ride.  Their life seems to unravel when Jenna has a miscarriage and their baby girl is gone.  Not having sex is a tragic predicament they find themselves in.  To prevent the withdrawals they would go through if they couldn’t have sex, they throw themselves into touring.  When you can’t sex-it-up, why not hit the road? We travel with them from one venue to the next until they are at long last reunited.  Hot, hot sex and Jenna and Scott conceive again.  Nine happy months later, beautiful Zachary Matthew Scott Teeny is born.

Jenna and Scott are real people with real problems that just happen to be rock stars and live the rock-star life.  You will be drawn into their life.  “Sweet Emotions” is a really good read.  Jan Bornstein is a great descriptive author and has a new follower in me.  She had me melting, “He laid his hands on her cheeks and held them tenderly, then brought them back through her hair.  Pulling it aside, he didn’t so much kiss her neck as simply lay his lips there.  Then he parted them, and let his roaming tongue plead his case for him.”  YUM!

“Sweet Emotions” is the second book of the Song Trilogy by Jan Bornstein. When we catch up with rock stars Scott Tenny and Jenna Bradford, they are still together, and their relationship seems stronger than ever after all of the adversity they had faced in the first novel in the series. The couple is mingling both their personal and professional lives at a rabid pace, and their music, much to the delight of their friends and family, is better than ever. Scott and Jenna seem to be on a roller coaster that is on its way to the top, but as anyone who has ridden a roller coaster knows, there will eventually be a descent, and many more ups, downs, twists, and turns to follow. Such is life.

Bornstein writes her characters in an entirely believable manner that allows the reader to really connect with what each is going through. We suffer with them through tragedy, and smile with them during times of joy. The issues in Scott and Jenna’s relationship are the same as those that other real life couples might face, and at times you might find yourself remembering similar highs and lows from your own love life.

“Sweet Emotions” is a romance novel through and through. Readers who enjoy the genre will not be disappointed by Bornstein’s latest offering. The plot is riveting, there are many great character arcs, the passion is steamy, the arguments are realistic, and the love that these two share is palpable. I am not typically a fan of romance novels, but this book combined the right amount of love story with mystery and intrigue to keep me interested. Grab this book, fill the tub with bubbles, pour a glass of wine, and relax and enjoy the “Sweet Emotions” by Jan Bornstein that fill this novel.
