Modern culture has taught us to do what feels good but that is not what the Word of God has commanded.  Is sex merely a physical act that brings momentary pleasure or does it have spiritual significance?  This book meets head on topics such as purity, homosexuality, lust and marriage.

Beginning on page one and continuing through the book, we are challenged to examine what the world says and we are given God’s word as a rebuttal.  We are asked to look at our definition of love -- is it a feeling as most songs tell us or is it a decision on our part?  The love that Jesus spoke of “transcends fleeting feelings. He modeled love in the mercy and compassion He showered on the…people.”  To have Christ-like love is a decision.

Many overlook the fact that God will bring our mate to us.  “God says:  “I brought Eve to Adam.  I can bring your spouse to you if you will ask me.”  If you want a Godly mate you should be exhibiting Godly traits that will catch the attention of Godly people. Pray that God sends the person of His choice into your life. But remember that it will be in God’s time not ours.

This is a timely book. Our youth are facing temptations of sex from TV, magazines, and street corners.  This book presents the lies the world tells us, “A little sex never hurt anyone, Pornography doesn’t hurt anyone.  The most important thing is physical attraction,” and counters these lies with the truth of God, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, without commitment, love cannot grow, Love isn’t a dream it’s a choice, the intent of marriage is for two people to become one, nothing good can be derived from unfaithfulness and deceit.  The world deceives but the Lord is pure and holy.”

The format of “Sex: Discovering Real Love in a World of Counterfeits” is unique and easy to read.  The statements are backed by scripture references.  The topic is presented in an honest manner.  I am honored to recommend this book to Christians, youth, and parents.  This world will set you up for failure but through Christ all things are possible.  I am glad I read this book and wish I had read it many years ago.
