Ellen Marie Blend’s story begins in 1990 as she notices that she experiences strong emotional feelings when she encounters certain objects like cinderblock buildings. With the help of a friend, Ellen starts investigating why she feels this way. Ellen and her friend Gwen explore areas near where she lives to see what her reactions are to certain places. The more she engages in this activity, the more memory recall Ellen has. What is unusual about this is that the memories are not of this lifetime. Ellen feels called to England. She journeys there with another friend, Duncan. Her experiences become more intense. She is now able to connect family names with places. As Ellen journeys along this path of remembering past lives, she discovers more about herself and why she feels and acts certain ways. She is able to connect current friends and family members with people that she knew in the past.

People that are interested in exploring their own past lives will find this book very interesting. In addition to enjoying the story, I really appreciated that the author included pictures of the places that she was writing about. The visual cues from this made me feel more like I was on the journey with her. “Looking Back” also will motivate the reader to start exploring their own connections to past lives. Questions will come to mind as you think along this issue. For example, if you are experiencing a phobia, is it tied to this life or something that happened in a former life that had such a huge impact it carried over to this lifetime? How about connections that you feel to other people? Have you known each other before? Why are these people in your life now? Is there a karmic debt to be paid? “Looking Back” will really make you look within for answers.
