In Lillian D. Bjorseth’s “Don’t Wait another 10 Seconds” you will learn what you need to know in order to make a great impression with your appearance and behavior. This review is written without the benefit of listening to the other CD’s in the “Nothing Happens until We Communicate” series. Without the benefit of having also listened to the other CD’s in the series, I can only say that “Don’t Wait Another 10 Seconds” offers a very general overview, or barebones approach, of dressing for success.  This is a strength in my opinion, because, this general approach allows Bjorseth to cover successful dressing and behavioral techniques for both men and women. Many times information like this is geared for only one gender or another so it was refreshing to see something for men and women in one place.

I have to say I was a little disappointed when I realized the author was simply reading into a microphone rather than talking directly to the listener. It’s a personal pet peeve of mine when verbal communication sounds like it is being read directly from a page. It’s ok if it is being read, just so long as it doesn’t sound like it. I base this opinion on the fact that we communicate differently in written form than we do with the spoken word. Because of this, I was hoping the CD would be more like a one on one seminar with the author—well thought out, planned, and organized, but spontaneous as well. This particular CD lacked the smoothness that I have come to expect when I listen to CD’s dealing with self-help or being successful.  Had the information been presented in a much smoother format, I would have given it at least four stars. I found the content to be right on target and highly beneficial. However, the presentation was too much to be ignored.

My pet peeve aside, Bjorseth offers outstanding advice to anyone who is looking for a new job, desiring a promotion, or just wants to learn how their appearance and behavior affect their personal and professional lives. For that, this CD, “Don’t Wait another 10 Seconds,” is worth listening to. However, I would probably find it more beneficial if it was listened to in conjunction with the other CD’s in the series. Without having listened to them myself, however, I can only speculate.
