"Metered Space", a cosmic crime drama, is hard to pin down.  It’s part rough and tough private eye fare and part sci-fi meet the neighbors.  Jack Meter is given a second chance at life. The man was killing himself with drink and bad behavior due to the murder of his girl friend Annie.  This second chance comes with alien ties, the aliens put Jack back together good as new and now they want a favor.  They want him to hunt down a missing alien travel device.  Jack is sent back to earth and places unknown to hunt down the thief, help solve the murder of his girlfriend, and help stop a mad man from building a neo Frankenstein’s monster.  Not your average day’s work.  He enlists the aid of other earthlings in this sci-fi crime drama to foil the bad guy and save the world.

It is an engaging tale that I still find terribly hard to explain due to the twist turns and mayhem of the story.  I found myself liking Jack despite his rough demeanor.  The characters where inventive and full bodied, even the ones made of vapor.  It was a wild ride and a nice read. A nice blend of genres that was truly surprising.
