The Spiritual Life of Water: Its Power and PurposeAlick Bartholomew
We know we need water because without it we wouldn’t exist. However, Alick Bartholomew brings our attention to other aspects of water by saying “It influences the emotions, the imagination, and creativity - artists and poets find inspiration in it. So many words in our language are stimulated by water: outpouring, flowing, bubbling, well up, swell, drain.” (p 1) But there is so much more to the spiritual aspects of water. The most interesting characteristic I find is that water has memory. It is a vehicle for electromagnetic fields and biological fields. It has been used as a sacred component for centuries. Priests and spiritual teachers bless the water; even one small drop of such water into a large mass will carry its blessed memory. As well, recycling water or streams running through areas involves memory. Crystals or precious gems can also be used to enhance the memory of water. Unless we stop to contemplate the significance of water, and look past our basic need for it, we will not be able to catapult ourselves into a higher realm of existence. Bartholomew gives us this opportunity through research, study, explanation, examples, and theories. Understanding the deeper meaning of water is to place ourselves into a place of spiritual connection to our source and the mainstay of our reality. “The Spiritual Life of Water” is an important book. It not only reminds us of its basic need but it unites us to nature, mother earth, and our source. |
