Come This Way
As an avid reader, I am always looking for something interesting to read. Recently, many of the books I read really didn’t offer anything new or exciting; then I picked up “Come This Way” and discovered gay fiction, a genre that I had never read before. “Come This Way” is a collection of the author’s short stories and excerpts. The book includes a wide range of genres including romance, mystery, adventure and fantasy. Readers are taken to San Francisco where they encounter a gay young man with healing powers desperately looking for his evangelical father’s approval. Later in the book, you are transported to a farm and trailer where you witness young love and a depressing marital relationship. Banis skillfully writes about complicated relationships and everyday life. His writing easily captivates the imagination and always leaves you wanting more. Victor Banis is a wonderful storyteller. He pulls the reader in within the first paragraph and doesn’t let go until the end. “Come This Way” is a wonderful introduction to the author’s work and to gay fiction. Readers looking to explore a new genre, or simply looking to read a book that captures their attention and imagination should pick-up a copy of “Come This Way.” |
